Chartwell supports The Waterboy

Last Christmas you helped Chartwell Shopping Centre raise $8,100 for The WaterBoy with donations from our gift wrapping. This huge donation contributed towards digitising Taku Wairua.

Taku Wairua is a fantastic local initiative which Chartwell's Christmas 2018 gift wrapping donations helped launch.

Taku Wairua is ‘The WaterBoy’s’ mentorship programme. A personal development program designed for the purpose of giving disadvantaged youth well needed direction through their teenage years. Through implementation of Taku Wairua, there have been many successes and there is now opportunity to digitalise the program to significantly increase efficiency & impact, whilst creating new capabilities to impact more sectors of society. The digital form will also enable scalability (increased impact), cost efficiency of impact, increased user engagement and user success and the removal of geographical limitations.

Located in Hamilton, The WaterBoy’s mandate is to break down barriers to provide personal development opportunities to disadvantaged or minority youth, and using sport and mentoring as a major vehicle for creating stronger people. These barriers could be financial, disability, confidence, sexual orientation, age, gender, religion or other.
